About the job

Some key information

  • These Stop Smoking Practitioner roles are hybrid working, with contractual work bases at County Hall Taunton and Brympton Way Yeovil.
  • We have 6 x full time equivalent posts available and welcome job share and part – time applications.
  • These roles will work within our Smokefree Somerset service and will target groups with a high smoking prevalence e.g. social housing, substance misuse and long term health conditions.
  • These are 3 years fixed term appointments.
  • Annual leave entitlement for this grade is 30 days.

 

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that joining a dynamic public health team, which has an excellent reputation. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Providing specialist support and advice to smokers within specific target groups with a high smoking prevalence.
  • Deliver group, 1-1 in clients homes and telephone support sessions.
  • Work as part of a multi-Disciplinary team to ensure that every Somerset family has the opportunity to be smokefree.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training, and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

  • Can communicate with a wide range of people both in group and 1:1 settings and build relationships with individuals and families across a range of backgrounds.
  • Have experience of managing a caseload and maintaining concise records.
  • Have access to/use of a vehicle is an essential requirement for this post.
  • Have a motivational interviewing qualification and / or experience.
