Some key information

  • Permanent position, 37 hours, Monday to Friday
  • Based from the Deane Depot, Wellington 3 days per week.
  • Hybrid working available.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of good industry practice on a full range of commercial vehicles with maintenance, diagnostics, repair and inspection to MOT standard.
  • The role is critical for vehicle and driver compliance.
  • Previous workshop/transport experience essential.
  • 28 days’ annual leave.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.

The Fleet team support over 30 different service areas that provide statutory services to the residents of Somerset. It is essential that Fleet provide an efficient and cost effective service to enable the service’s  we support to deliver to the residents of Somerset.  

Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Managing an outsourced vehicle maintenance contract.
  • Resolving complex operational and serviced based problems and conflicts raised through the service escalation process ad ensure positive outcomes.
  • Reviewing performance outcomes and customer feedback in order to meet customer requirements.
  • Communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing to service users and contractor.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

Key skills and experiences needed to be successful in this role:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Level 3 qualification in automotive engineering, vehicle maintenance and repair or similar.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH.
  • Must be able to communicate well.
  • Intermediate computer skills required.
