  • You will gain a BSc in Public Health (Hons) and eligibility to apply to and join the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR)
  • This is a three-year fixed term post

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Completing a 3 year apprenticeship training programme to become a Public Health Practitioner gaining a BSc in Public Health (Hons) and eligibility to apply to and join the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR)You will be supported by the University of the West of England.
  • This will involve approx. 1 day a week term time university work.
  • Approx two days a week would be spent in part-time support of a core area of public health provision for example healthy lifestyles or public health data intelligence
  • You will spend a further two days a week on university coursework and a variety of programme areas within the local authority communities and public health undertaking different public health tasks and projects building evidence for the apprenticeship.

Anything else I should know?

The Salary for this role is Grade 14 in year 1 £23,114 (23/24), rising to Grade 13 in years two £23,893 (23/24), and £24,294 (23/24) in year three, for 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday.

Negotiated role start at Somerset Council between July and August 2024 once acceptance on UWE course confirmed.
