Green Days Shop & Cafe
Leisure, Life skills, Training and employmentDescription
The service users are gaining experience in working in a café, from orders to making lunches, teas and coffee, serving and payment.
Green Days’ not-for-profit arts and crafts shop offering an opportunity to work together in the heart of our community. It’s great to be a platform for local artists and crafters to display their work and for us to work with them inclusively.
As we are an Outcome Based Service we have purpose for all that we do. We welcome customers, volunteers or even those who just want to come in and say hello?
The shop gives us hands on employability skills to include:
- Teamwork
- Customer Service Skills
- Communication and Telephone Skills (speaking and listening)
- Health and Safety
- Money and Till Experience
- Stock Control and Display
- Problem Solving
- Cleaning/Vacuuming/Dusting Skills
- Writing
- Shopping
In the back room we do craft skills – learning to use a sewing machine, knitting, felting, gluing, painting, upcycling small pieces of furniture, and creating hampers and Christmas Eve boxes.
We organise bespoke courses with learning employability skills alongside the practice, to reinforce the understanding of various topics – money, health and safety, customer care teamwork, manual handling, lunch breaks, and timekeeping.
