The Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Somerset is a collaboration between Somerset NHS Foundation Trust (CAMHS) and Young Somerset.  They are working with a selection of secondary, primary schools across the County. There is a team of practitioners in each area (Taunton, Sedgemoor, South Somerset and Mendip.)

Each team are responsible for:

• Delivering evidence-based Low Intensity CBT interventions for children, young people with mild to moderate mental health issues. We also provide Parent led LICBT and Parenting groups.
• Supporting the mental health lead in each education setting to introduce, or further develop their whole school approach to wellbeing.
• Providing timely advice to school staff, and liaising with external specialist services, to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.

Requests for help can only come into the service through the Mental Health Lead in any MHST assigned school.

MHST is part of the Early Interventions offer in Somerset.  MHST schools receive support including consultations to Senior Mental Health Lead, 1:1 Li CBT work and Group work and Whole school Approach work for the whole school community.
