Update a Blue Badge

If you change your address, please let us know immediately so that our records are kept up to date and any correspondence, including your renewal reminder letter, is sent to the correct place. You can update your details by contacting the Blue Badge Team using the details at the bottom of this section.

If you move into or out of Somerset your badge will still apply, but please notify the Council of the area you are moving out of so that they can transfer your details to the new authority.

Renewal reminder notifications and other correspondence can also be sent by email or text. If you would prefer to receive communications from us in this way, please let us know and we will update our records.

If you have changed your name, your badge will still be valid. Please let us know if your name changes, so that if your badge is renewed the new badge will have your new name on it. If you want to replace your current badge with one that shows your new name, please send your request to us in writing along with proof of identification. When we receive your request, we will contact you for a payment of £10.

If you want to update the photo on your badge while it is still in date, please send your request to us in writing, along with the photo. When we receive your request, we will contact you for payment of £10.

When you receive a replacement badge, please return your old badge to:

Blue Badge Scheme
County Hall
Taunton
TA1 4DY

Email the Blue Badge Team – Bluebadge@somerset.gov.uk

Please let us know if someone who had a Blue Badge has died. We will update our records immediately so that no more correspondence is sent out. Please return the badge, confirming the date of death, to:

Blue Badge Scheme
County Hall
Taunton
TA1 4DY

If you are using the Tell Us Once process to register the death of someone who had a Blue Badge, if you give permission, this information will be passed to us so that you do not need to contact us separately. You will still need to return the badge to us.

If your circumstances have changed and you no longer need a Blue Badge, please post it back to the address above and tell us the reason you no longer need it.

You can read more in the Department of Transport guidance document The Blue Badge scheme: rights and responsibilities in England.
