Introduction

Introduction

Local Development Orders are made by local planning authorities and give a grant of planning permission to specific types of development within a specific area. 

Neighbourhood Development Orders are made by a parish council, or an organisation or body designated as a neighbourhood forum.  Neighbourhood Development Orders give a grant of planning permission to specific types of development within a specific area. 

Community Right to Build Orders are a type of Neighbourhood Development Order made by community organisations. Community Right to Builder Orders are used to give a grant of planning permission to specific types of development.

Within Somerset there are the following Local Development Orders in place: 

Gravity Local Development Order near Bridgwater 
(Date of adoption – December 2021)

Small Scale Employment Space (Somerset West and Taunton district area)
(Date of adoption – September 2020)

Nexus 25 Local Development Order Taunton
(Date of adoption – 2018)
