Somerset Council’s Customer Service Point in Williton will temporarily relocate to the town’s library to allow refurbishment of its current home in West Somerset House.

West Somerset House will close on Tuesday 24 December at 3pm for the Christmas break. On Monday 2 January, the Customer Service Point will reopen inside Williton Library.

While operating in the library, the Customer Service Point will be open every: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm (it is closed Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays).

The refurbishment is expected to last for 10 weeks, when the building reopens residents can visit the Customer Access Point, library and children’s centre in one place.

Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts Lead Member for Communities, Housing and Culture said:

We’re pleased to be bringing our services in Williton to one place. The refurbishment of West Somerset House will provide residents with a modern place to access our services.

Our Customer Access Points (CAP’s) provide assisted digital access to our online services. The CAP will be open five days a week for residents and they can contact the customer service team via a Video Assistance Link (VAL) with the same questions that they would have raised in person. There will be support available to residents to use our online services.

Customers who often visit the Customer Service Point in Williton are urged to speak to the staff ahead of the change, to understand how to best access the support in the future.

Williton Library is just a short walk away from West Somerset House, on Killick Way.

All 5 of Somerset’s Customer Service Points – in Bridgwater, Shepton Mallet, Taunton, Yeovil and Williton – will close for Christmas from 3pm on Tuesday 24 December and reopen on Monday 2 January. Customers can continue to access services via the Council’s website during this time.
