Organised by the charity Coram Voice, Voices is the only creative writing competition specifically for care experienced children and young people.
It provides a unique platform for them to showcase their creativity, celebrate their talents and shine a light on what it means to be care-experienced.
Since it was launched in 2015 by the charity Coram Voice, Voices has celebrated the creativity of thousands of children and young people from across the UK. 2025 marks Coram Voice’s 50th Anniversary, and we have chosen the theme ‘My Voice’ to place the voices of children and young people at the heart of our milestone year
Previous participants have said the following about competition: “I was so excited that I could share my story with people that had experienced the same things as me. At the awards, I read out my story in front of everyone – I was really nervous but after I was really proud of myself.” – Rosie, runner-up in the Voices 2022 Primary School category
The competition is open to care experienced children and young people aged 4-25. We are looking for poems, stories, articles, or anything else that fits the theme (up to 500 words). In response to popular demand, this year we are also opening the competition to songs and raps!
