Unpaid carers in Somerset are invited to join Somerset Council, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust and Community Council for Somerset (CCS) for a free drop-in event in Bridgwater.

Following a successful drop-in for unpaid carers that was held in Minehead, the Bridgwater event will include free information and advice specially tailored to support unpaid carers with their caring role.

The event will be on 23 April 2025 at Activity Warehouse, 5 E Quay, Bridgwater, TA16 4DB and unpaid carers are welcome to drop in any time between 10am and 1pm

Anyone who is looking after someone else in an unpaid capacity is welcome to come along to this free event, even if they are receiving Carers Allowance.

On the day, Adult Social Care staff will be present to help guide unpaid carers through questions they might have. Other organisations will also be there to give free information and advice, including:

The day will include a series of free seminars on a range of topics which cover areas frequently asked about by unpaid carers, including Lasting Power of Attorney, Direct Payments, Finances, and Guardianship.

Councillor Sarah Wakefield, Lead Member for Adults Services, Housing and Homelessness at Somerset Council said:

Unpaid carers play a vital role in Somerset, providing essential support to those in need. Their dedication and compassion not only improve the lives of the individuals they care for but also contribute significantly to the health and wellbeing of the wider community.

By ensuring that information is readily available and tailored to the needs of unpaid carers through information days like this, we can help them continue their invaluable work with confidence and resilience.

There will be more information days taking place across Somerset for the rest of the year. Find out more here: New Carer Information Roadshow – Somerset Carers.
