Somerset Council’s Highways team is delivering an essential road maintenance scheme in East Cranmore near Shepton Mallet next month.

The A361 Cranmore Road between Dean and East Cranmore is showing signs of wear and tear and needs to be resurfaced.

The work will take place between 8-19 January and can only be done under a full road closure. To minimise disruption this will be carried out across weekday evenings from 6.30pm to 11.30pm during these dates. The road will be open outside these hours.

Access will be maintained throughout for homes and businesses in the immediate area of the works.

Councillor Mike Rigby, Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Digital said:

This road surface is showing significant signs of deterioration and it is essential that we carry out this work – this is a really busy route.

Carrying out the work during evenings will minimise disruption for road users during peak hours.
