Essential maintenance work is being carried out by Somerset Council on the A39 at Periton Road later this month.

Resurfacing is being done on a section of road concerned is between Parkhouse Rd and Middlecombe junction. Access for homes and businesses will be maintained throughout.

The Council’s team will be doing preparation work over 2 days, Thursday and Friday 18 July and 19 July, and resurfacing will take place Monday 22 and Tuesday 23 July.

A road closure is needed from 7.30am to 6pm on these 4 days. The road is open outside these hours.

Wessex Water are carrying out repairs under traffic lights from 9 to 11 July, the week before work commences on Periton Road. For more information visit wessexwater.co.uk.

To maximise efficient use of resources the same team will also be resurfacing Quarry Close and Callins View in Minehead immediately before this.

Preparation and resurfacing work is from Monday 8 July to Tuesday 9 July and resurfacing is being done from Wednesday 10 July to Friday 12 July. A closure will be needed between 7.30 am and 6pm from Wednesday to Friday.

Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Digitial, Councillor Richard Wilkins said:

It’s vital we repair this stretch of road as it is showing signs of wear and tear.

We appreciate this will cause some disruption and the team will do everything they can to minimise this for residents and businesses.

We are ensuring we make the best use of resources by doing two schemes in this area across three weeks.
