Your views have helped shape the way that planning applications will be validated in the Somerset Council area.
From the 1 April 2025 all applications will need to use the updated and consolidated checklist which can be found here It reflects both the national guidance on the validation of applications and the local requirements to meet adopted Local Plan policies. In November 2024, Somerset Council ran a consultation seeking your input on our Local Validation Checklist for planning applications. Local Validation Checklists (LVCs) help inform applicants and agents about the type of documents and level of information required to be submitted in order for the Council to validate a planning application and/or other consents. Each of the former Councils which make up Somerset Council had an adopted LVC reflecting the Local Plans for their area. This will be the first LVC for the Somerset Council area and where necessary it includes specific requirements from the adopted Local Plans from the former Districts while a new Local Plan for Somerset is being prepared. Somerset Council is committed to providing a professional and efficient service for all potential applicants and agents. The LVC will help them to prepare their submissions and ensure they can be validated and determined as swiftly as possible. |
