Somerset Council and the Quedam Shopping Centre are proud to announce the opening of a new Changing Places facility.

Located within the Quedam Shopping Centre in Yeovil, the new Changing Places facility is designed to meet the needs of individuals with profound and multiple learning disabilities, as well as other disabilities that severely limit mobility. It provides a safe, clean, and fully equipped space, ensuring dignity and comfort for all users.

This state-of-the-art facility is the result of a successful partnership between the Quedam Shopping Centre and Somerset Council, and has been funded through the central government’s Changing Places Toilets Fund.

Key features of the Changing Places facility include:

  • Height-adjustable adult-sized changing bench
  • Ceiling hoist system
  • Ample space for carers
  • Centrally located toilet with room on both sides for assistants
  • Privacy screen

Councillor Federica Smith Roberts, Lead Member for Communities, Housing Revenue Account, Culture and, Equalities and Diversity said:

The new Quedam Changing Places facility marks a significant step forward in making Yeovil a more inclusive and accessible town for everyone. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held today, Monday 11 November, when it was officially opened by Councillor Federica Smith Roberts and Quedam Manager, James Tovey, who were accompanied by Adam Dance MP and Dave Crisfield, former Community and Equalities Officer at Somerset Council.
