The Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Mohammed Saddiq, will host a community carol service at Taunton Minster as part of the Royal Foundation Christmas celebrations.

The Together at Christmas service will take place on Friday 6 December and will reflect the carol service hosted by The Princess of Wales in Westminster Abbey.

This year’s Westminster Abbey service will highlight the importance of the role we can all play in supporting others going through hardship. It will air as part of a special programme on ITV1 and ITVX on Christmas Eve.

The service at Taunton Minster is one of 15 Together at Christmas services across the UK being hosted by Lord-Lieutenants and supported by The Royal Foundation.

The services will be dedicated to those who are there for others in their time of need, in whatever form that may take.

Some 120 local organisations who support their communities in Somerset have been invited to the Taunton service which will also feature the choir from Trull VA Primary School.

Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Mohammed Saddiq, said:

I am delighted that so many organisations which support our communities in Somerset have been invited to participate in the service, providing an opportunity to acknowledge them and thank the generosity which is so evident in the county.

It should be a joyful community celebration of Christmas celebrating empathy, love and kindness.

The Lord-Lieutenant of Somerset, Mohammed Saddiq.
