Get Active Together seeks to provide families in Somerset with opportunities to engage in physical activities collectively, fostering shared experiences and enjoyment among both disabled and non-disabled siblings. During the upcoming summer holidays, the activities listed below will be available.
Inclusive Family Roller Skating Sessions
Description: An inclusive family roller skating session for young people with disabilities and their siblings/family members. To include some basic skills practice, optional challenges and the opportunity to have fun whilst free skating! Equipment hire is available. Please note that all children MUST attend with a parent/carer, although adults are not required to skate.
Dates: Friday 2nd August and Friday 30th August
Time: 1pm to 2:30pm
Venue: Blackbrook Leisure Centre, Blackbrook Way, Taunton, TA1 2RW
Age Range: Young people must be aged 8 to 18 years
Cost: £5.00 per young person
Inclusive Outdoor Activity Sessions
Description: Fun-filled inclusive outdoor activities in conjunction with Channel Adventure for young people with disabilities and their siblings. As these sessions will be water based, please ensure that you bring swimwear.
Dates: Tuesday 30th July, Tuesday 6th August, Tuesday 13th August and Tuesday 20th August
Times: 11am to 1pm (8 to 12 years) and 2pm to 4pm (13 to 18 years)
Venue: C.O.A.C.H. at French Weir Park, Taunton, TA1 1AW
Age Ranges: Please see the timings information above – we are happy to be flexible with the age groups to enable siblings to take part together
Cost: £5.00 per young person
Inclusive Multi-Sports Sessions
Description: An inclusive multi-sports session for young people with disabilities and siblings. To include a variety of activities, such as tagging games, football and dodgeball.
Dates: Friday 26th July (delivered by SASP) and Friday 9th August (delivered by Bristol Bears Community Foundation)
Time: 10am to 12:30pm
Venue: Bridgwater and Taunton College (Bridgwater Centre), Bath Road, Bridgwater, TA6 4PZ
Age Range: 8 to 25 years
Cost: £5.00 young person
