Somerset Council is carrying out essential maintenance to the pavement on St John Street in Bridgwater next week (Monday 24 July).

In order to deliver the scheme safely the road will be closed from Monday 24 July to Friday 28 July for all traffic heading from Broadway/Cranleigh Gardens to Westonzoyland Road. Access for traffic travelling in the opposite direction, from Westonzoyland Road to Broadway will be maintained at all times.

Access to businesses and homes in the immediate area will be maintained throughout, and a diversion will be in place during the closure.

Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Digital, Councillor Mike Rigby said:

The footway is showing signs of wear and tear and we will be laying a new surface.

We understand that this may result in some disruption at peak times and our team will work to minimise this as much as possible.
This is a busy and vital thoroughfare close to Bridgwater Railway Station and we have to ensure the footway is maintained to a high standard for the benefit of residents and visitors to the town.
