Somerset Council and Taunton Town Council will be showing their support for the Emergency Services by holding a flag-raising ceremony on Friday, 6 September.

The ceremony will be hosted at County Hall in Taunton by the Chair of Somerset Council, Councillor Mike Best, and the Mayor of Taunton, Councillor Vanessa Garside.

The Emergency Services Day Flag will be flown at all Somerset Council’s main offices leading up to National Emergency Services Day on 9 September.

Councillor Mike Best said:

We’re proud to fly the Emergency Services Day Flag to show our appreciation for the wonderful people who go above and beyond to save life and limb and protect us all every day.

It’s also a chance to acknowledge all those behind the scenes who enable frontline workers to do their jobs, and to the families who support them not just on 999 Day but all year round.”

Councillor Vanessa Garside added:

Our blue light services are always there for us when we need them, working tirelessly to serve and protect our community, and it’s an honour to host this event to acknowledge their sacrifice and give thanks for their dedication in safeguarding our health and safety.”
