Fiveways School, a local authority (LA) maintained special school, has achieved Centre of Excellence status for its outstanding MOVE (Movement Opportunities via Education) programme. This recognition makes Fiveways the first school in the South-West to receive this prestigious award!

The MOVE programme is designed to support disabled children and young people in developing independent mobility. It caters to children with complex disabilities, including cerebral palsy, by enhancing their cognitive and social skills.

Organisations awarded Centre of Excellence status recognise best practices in implementing the MOVE programme. Fiveways School now serves as an ambassador, actively working to introduce the MOVE programme in other educational settings.

In addition, Fiveways School has upheld its Outstanding rating for the nineteenth year in a row!

In their report, published on 19th July, Ofsted highlighted: Under the current Ofsted framework, there have been seven other Outstanding judgements awarded to schools in Somerset – The Castle School, Enmore Church of England Primary School, Huish Primary School, Kingfisher Primary School, Richard Huish College, Preston Primary School and Primrose Lane Primary School.

Fiveways Special School is the first LA maintained school to achieve an outstanding rating under the current Ofsted framework, with Somerset Bridge School receiving a Good rating, with an Outstanding rating in three out of four sub-judgements earlier in the year. Congratulations!
