Vital preparation and resurfacing works are being carried out on West Street in Bridgwater.

The Council’s highways team is doing the work between the A39 junction with West Gate and Durleigh Road, which includes preparation work, followed by resurfacing. A closure is in place between 7.30am and 6pm for the safety of the public and workforce, from 19 August to 2 September. The road will be open outside these hours and at weekends.

Access will be maintained for residents and businesses throughout and Marshalls will be available to assist, however some delays and inconvenience can be expected.

A diversion will be in place during the hours the road is closed and will be shown via the Council’s Roadworks and travel information page, or by visiting Causeway One.network.

Councillor Richard Wilkins Somerset Council’s Lead Member for Transport and Digital said:

Resurfacing is an essential part of our programme maintenance schedule.

We appreciate this will have an impact on local traffic, which is why our team has scheduled this in the summer holidays.

Please plan ahead if they use this route regularly. If possible, the team will do everything they can to complete this scheme ahead of schedule.
