A network of over 100 hubs connecting the most vulnerable families and residents to their local community resources

Connect Somerset works with over 100 community hubs – places where partners and professionals can deliver statutory and community services.

Hubs play an important role in a local area, offering help for families and residents, and there’s a long list of hubs close to the families you work with.

The aim of the 100 hubs is to get services closer to home and in places that the public are already at and feel welcomed. They promote more early help, drop-ins and support, especially where there are gaps in existing provisions.

The new SEND action plan includes a commitment to more local drop-ins through the 100 hubs.

100 Hub network

This fantastic network of hubs will connect the most vulnerable families and residents to their local community resources. These hubs are where local residents feel comfortable, which may include local libraries, warm spaces, village halls, talking cafe’s or community hubs.

How to access

Visit Community Hubs https://connectsomerset.org.uk/my-community/community-hubs/ to access the current list of community hubs, as well as how to contact them, opening times and locations.

The benefits of a local community hub

The hubs see a significant change in the way we respond to need through local solutions and prevention, proactively remove barriers, and address inequities in access, experience and outcomes affecting our local communities. The hubs also help manage long term demand and reduce duplication.

What professionals can do

Support and services will increasingly be based in neighbourhoods and community hubs. Professionals can work together across geographic and professional boundaries and with communities, recognising the challenges of rurality.

As a professional working in a neighbourhood, please use the website as a tool to locate local resources and hubs to provide the children, families and residents with an understanding of their local offer.

Neighbourhood hubs give professionals the opportunity to strengthen their relationships with children, young people and their families, ensuring that they can better work towards the priorities of the Somerset Children and Young People’s Plan. https://www.somerset.gov.uk/children-families-and-education/somerset-children-and-young-peoples-plan/

100 Hubs is a Connect Somerset project delivered by Somerset Council, working in partnership with Somerset NHS, Early Years settings, Schools, Colleges and the Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprises.
