Details of candidates in two forthcoming Somerset Council elections have been published.

By elections are being held on 21 November for one vacancy in the two-seat Blackmoor Vale division and for one vacancy in the two-seat Rowbarton and Staplegrove division following the resignations of Cllr Sarah Dyke and Cllr Dixie Darch respectively.

Candidates for Blackmoor Vale are: Hayward Burt (Conservative); Gregory Chambers (Labour); Peter Ebsworth (Green Party); Howard Ellard (Liberal Democrat.

Candidates for Rowbarton and Staplegrove are: Alan Debenham (Green Party); Moya Doherty (Labour); Nick O’Donnell (Liberal Democrat); Pete Prior-Sankey (Conservative).

Voters must be registered to vote and bring valid photo ID if they plan to vote in person at a polling station. The Electoral Commission provides a full list of acceptable Voter ID.

Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday, 5 November 2024. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Electoral Services by 5pm on Wednesday 6 November 2024.
