About the South East Somerset (Wincanton) area

The South East Somerset LCN area is situated at the edge of the county and borders with Dorset and Wiltshire. The main settlements are the market towns of Wincanton situated on the northeast edge of the Blackmore Vale, Bruton on the River Brue, Castle Cary, and Milborne Port to the east of Sherborne, Dorset.

This rural area is characterised by its picturesque countryside landscape, charming villages and hamlets, and settlements steeped in a rich history. The local economy is driven by agriculture, industry and tourism with commuter links to London provided by rail stations and major roads found in this area. Destinations such as the Hauser & Wirth Art Gallery and The Newt luxury hotel and spa, along with high streets abundant with independent and artisan retailers, bring a creative, fashionable and entrepreneurial vibe to this LCN area.
