Joining the library
It has been made even easier to become a member online so that you can benefit from a range of online services, including free downloadable books, audiobooks, magazines and newspapers.
Just register on the LibrariesWest website to receive your membership number – you will then need to submit a 4 digit PIN number to access the free online services.
You will need to visit your local library to receive a full membership library card, which will enable you to borrow books, DVDs and other items.
Please take proof of your name and current address the first time you visit your local library after registering online. For example, a UK driving licence or utility bill, bank or credit card statement from within the last 3 months.
Online library services
Online membership gives you access to 1000’s of downloadable books. Audiobooks, magazines, newspapers and comics are free of charge. See our Digital Books, Audiobooks and Magazines page for more information.
Follow us on social media to get regular updates, useful links and a range of helpful and fun content, such as live story-times and games. Visit Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and look for the #WeAreSomersetLibraries hashtag.
Stay in Touch
For support and information phone 0300 123 2224 or email librariesmail@somerset.gov.uk and a member of staff will be happy to help. Spread the word by telling family or friends about joining online and downloading free resources.
You can also leave us a message to ask us to get in touch with someone to help with online memberships or downloading books, audiobooks and magazines on devices at home.
Replacement library cards
If you have lost your library card you can email librariesmail@somerset.gov.uk and we’ll let you have your membership details so you can access our free services online.
If you have not used your card for a while you can email librariesmail@somerset.gov.uk and we’ll check your membership details are up to date. You might need to join online again, but we can talk you through how to do that too.
