About the job
Some key information
- £27,711 - £31,067per annum. Over and above this, the role has been given a recruitment allowance of £2,000 per annum for a period of 3 years.
- The role will be based at our Wellington Depot in Somerset.
- 28 days annual leave entitlement
- Permanent Contract
What will I be doing?
Let’s start with what you won’t be doing.
You won’t be spending time worrying about where the next job is coming from if things get a little quiet. Or leaving at the crack of dawn to get to a site that’s hours away. Or wondering what happens if you get sick, or injured, or just want to go on holiday for a week or two.
You’ll be sent your list of jobs for the day and then you’ll head out to work (in a vehicle supplied by us). We’ll even give you some power tools to use.
Most of the work is small repairs, usually on houses and bungalows.
It’s often simple stuff, but it makes a big difference to our tenants and the properties they live in. We work in pairs – so if you’re a bit less experienced, you’ll be able to learn more about the trade and get support from somebody who has a bit more experience.
(Likewise, if you’re more experienced – you might be able to pass on some of your skills and knowledge to somebody else).
Usually, you’ll finish up for the day around 4pm, knowing that you’ve done a good job and that there’s nothing for you to do until the next morning other than…well, whatever you want to do.
So, if you’re looking for a bit more work-life balance (along with some annual leave and a great pension), we might be the place for you.
What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?
We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be.
You’ll need some kind of experience with roofing.
(You could be a Roofer, a Labourer, or even somebody who’s spend a bit of time working with the roofing team as part of another trade or job).
You’ll also need to understand how to work safely (for example, using access equipment).
What's in it for me?
We are proud to offer an environment that is supportive and rewarding, working as part of a team who are passionate about the work they do to improve the lives of people in Somerset.
We offer great training and development opportunities, with supportive management. As well as this, we have some fantastic employee benefits available:
- We promote a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements wherever possible, including working from home.
- Generous annual leave allowance, with the opportunity to purchase additional leave.
- Staff discounts in gyms.
- Employee Assistance for the times you may need some support and a variety of employee wellbeing services.
- Auto enrolment onto our generous Pension Scheme and optional pension enhancement through our Additional Voluntary Contribution scheme.
- A Flexible Benefits Scheme via salary sacrifice to obtain a cycle for work and health screenings.
- My Staff Shop offering discounts in shops, online shopping, restaurants, cinema tickets, insurance benefits and more...
