Some key information

  • 37 hours per week hybrid working with regular days based at County Hall, Taunton.
  • 30 days annual leave (pro-rata for part time and fixed term contract posts)
  • This role will have a significant impact, delivering new and innovative infrastructure in Taunton, funded by the DfT’s Bus Service Improvement Plan - (BSIP).
  • This role is fixed term until 30th September 2025

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Assisting in the development of our pipeline of highways and transport infrastructure improvements which are needed to improve strategic connections across Somerset and beyond.
  • In particular, this role will be focused upon the development and delivery of the capital infrastructure elements of the Bus Service Improvement Programme in Taunton.
  • You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation as projects are developed in detail through the stages of option selection, consultation, design, planning and procurement, into delivery.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you have:

  • Experience of partnership working including the ability to work with multi-agency groups and projects to deliver services and initiatives.
  • A background in managing complex and high-profile projects
  • Experience of engagement with communities and customer feedback channels to shape and inform improved services.
  • Ideally experience in transport planning, infrastructure funding and infrastructure scheme development and delivery.
