  • 26 hours per week term time only (38 working weeks)
  • Based in Taunton
  • We also currently have relief driver positions available in Taunton, Frome, Bridgwater, and Somerton.

What will I be doing?

 

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • The transportation of service users in a safe and timely manner.
  • Completion of daily vehicle checks before use.
  • Safe operation of Somerset Council vehicles.
  • Delivering a friendly and reliable service for our service users.
  • Serving the community with local rural bus services

We support children with special educational needs and disabilities to and from home/school, Adults with learning disabilities to and from day centres as well as taking people to social care appointments and various other tasks – covering routes to help and enhance lives across Somerset.

 

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training, and guidance to help you be the best you can be. This includes a full induction programme and training in passenger care, disability awareness, moving and handling people and wheelchairs, Emergency aid, child protection and behaviour management to ensure you are fully equipped in your role. But it will really help if you have:

  • A Category D1 on your driving license
  • Good time keeping skills.
  • Patience with a caring nature to support service users on a daily basis.
