What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that.

You’ll be supervising our roofing team, making sure that repairs are carried out on time and to the quality expected.

You’ll be joining a positive team of supervisors. We’ve created a good atmosphere, and there’s plenty of support for each other whenever it’s needed.

There will be opportunities for you to learn new skills, and we’ll put you through site management qualifications and specialist training to help you develop your career.

Although your focus will be on roofing work, there will be times where you need to supervise and direct other trades on-site. You’ll also check the work of any contractors connected to responsive repairs.

You’ll be the one keeping a track of things, making sure everything is done right and that our timescales are being met. This will involve things like working closely with the scheduling team, reporting on emergency and non-emergency repair rates, and being proactive to make sure things keep ticking along smoothly.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be. But it will really help if you:

You’ll need to be an experienced roofer, who can manage a wide range of work and understand different aspects of roofing.

The team management side of this role is important, so you’ll need to be a good communicator and able to motivate people where it’s needed. Your communication skills will also come in handy when dealing with tenants, which is another key aspect of the role.

You’ll also need to be comfortable managing risk and health and safety, and have some basic ICT skills so that you can carry out line management tasks etc.

We’re proud to be here for the people of Somerset. And that means everyone in Somerset. An important part of this is ensuring that we are as diverse and inclusive as the people and communities we serve.

We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich our team. You can always contact the hiring manager for a chat if there’s anything you want to talk about before you apply.

What's in it for me?

We are proud to offer an environment that is supportive and rewarding, working as part of a team who are passionate about the work they do to improve the lives of people in Somerset.

We offer great training and development opportunities, with supportive management. As well as this, we have some fantastic employee benefits available:

  • We promote a healthy work-life balance and offer flexible working arrangements wherever possible, including working from home.
  • Generous annual leave allowance, with the opportunity to purchase additional leave
