What will I be doing?

An opportunity has arisen in Adult Social Care in Somerset for a Mental Capacity Act and DoLS Service Manager.

You will provide high quality professional leadership in relation to the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Central to the role is oversight and management of the DoLS system and DoLS Team across Somerset alongside co-ordination of the interface between Adult Social Care and the Somerset Council legal team in respect of the Court of Protection and Community DoLS. You will also have oversight of Mental Capacity Act training for Adult Social Care and a key quality assurance role for practice.

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We are looking for an experienced professional with a Best Interest Assessor qualification:

  • Who has a social worker or occupational therapist qualification registered with Social Work England or HCPC.
  • Who promotes human rights, social justice, people’s rights to autonomy and self-determination, and can support, constructively challenge and provide guidance to others.
  • Who actively contributes to and creates a safe, open learning culture.
  • Who has a high level of legal literacy; the ability to apply relevant legislation in practice alongside professional priorities and principles of ethical practice while adhering to the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities, and
  • With the ability to communicate complex information in a way that is accessible.
  • Who has access to/use of a vehicle.
