What will I be doing?

It is an exciting time to be joining Somerset Council, we are a friendly and effective service, and we believe that ‘Change is possible’

We’re working to improve the lives of children here in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • We have a PEP, an Assistant PEP and 6 Senior EPs leading this large service; we also have 3 Assistant EPs and a number of Trainee EPs.
  • The EP service is highly regarded within the local area. We have a central role in the integrated mental health (MH) offer, including the MH Support Teams, the Senior MH Lead Training, ELSA, and a focus on preventing exclusions and improving attendance through close partnership with local agencies. We also have key leadership and delivery roles within the Neurodevelopmental assessment pathways.
  • The EPS works with mainstream, special, and Partnership Schools (PRUs). Our work includes systemic working, a well-established consultation process, supervision, and training. Trading with schools provides EPs with opportunities to work systemically and support prevention and early intervention.
  • Further examples of our work include project work for the local authority, support for schools and settings in managing Critical Incidents, support within Early Years, the Virtual School, MeLSA, and working in partnership with advisory teachers, colleagues and SEND practitioners. We welcome applications from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences to enrich our team. You can always contact the hiring manager for a chat if there’s anything you want to talk about before you apply.
