Some key information

  • The salary for this post is in line with Agenda for Change Band 7, which has a current salary range of £43,742 to £50,056 per annum.
  • Base will be East Somerset locality either at Collier’s Court, Frome, Shape, Shepton Mallet or the Balsam Centre Wincanton.
  • Core service delivery hours are Monday to Friday 9-5, and the post is 37.5 hours per week.
  • Annual Leave 31 days with opportunity to buy up to two weeks additional leave.
  • The Public Health Nursing Service sits within the Public Health Directorate of Somerset Council. This offers excellent opportunities to develop services with our commissioners, and health and social care partners.
  • You must be an NMC registered Nurse or Midwife with a SCPHN qualification with proven leadership experience.

What will I be doing?

We’re working to improve the health and well-being of our children and families in Somerset using good leadership skills and a sound knowledge base in safeguarding and child protection processes – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • You will be responsible for managing and leading teams of Public Health Nurses, Community Staff Nurses, Assistant Practitioners and Administrators.
  • You will be leading on streams of work relevant to developing the countywide service.
  • You will be developing and maintaining relationships with multiagency partners, promoting collaborative working to achieve the best outcomes for children, young people, and families.
