  • Permanent contract, 37 hours per week.

What will I be doing?

You will work as part of a team of Business Support Technicians that are highly skilled in providing technical assistance to the Building Control Team. We pride ourselves on providing a professional service to all users, carrying out administrative tasks to support the wider team in undertaking its statutory duties, as well we are providing a friendly and professional approach to our service users.

We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. Your day-to-day work will involve

  • The registration and administration of Building Control applications.
  • Helping service users on the phone or via email to arrange inspections, take payment, update records etc.
  • Support the Building Control Surveyors and management team with day-to-day tasks

What kind of experience or qualifications do I need?

We offer ongoing support, training and guidance to help you be the best you can be.  As a team, we will support you in developing the skills and knowledge required to undertake the role and can offer on the job training and qualifications to aid you further.

But it will really help if you have:

  • A minimum of an A-Level or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Experience of working in a competitive market – understanding the importance of service quality.
  • Experience of calculating and accepting fees and liaising with customers, providing a knowledgeable service to encourage repeat custom.
  • An awareness of the Building Control profession
