Any woman (17 or over) who wants to address their drug or alcohol dependence in a female-only and abstinent environment
Womens services
Provider
The Nelson Trust
Support
Provides women-only environments where women can recover from addiction and move away from offending by accessing residential treatment or attending a community centre.
Women who would find this service to be particularly relevant are those with a history of childhood sexual abuse, history of domestic and sexual violence or of sex-working; women with a pattern of relapse linked to forming unhelpful relationships with men, perhaps in previous treatment episodes; or women with children who would like to make use of the Children’s Visiting Facility. Many women use drug and alcohol to cope with a history of abuse and complex trauma.
The residential programmes supports women to break free from destructive behaviours and thinking patterns linked to their past trauma by helping them focus on their own recovery in a safe and trauma-informed environment.
