Description

A 27-mile multi-user path project that winds through the Mendip Hills National Landscape and Cheddar Vale between Clevedon and Shepton Mallet. Passing through the historic city of Wells, and market towns of Axbridge and Cheddar.

Historic Great Western Railway Cheddar Valley Branch that closed in 1963 is being repurposed into a multi-user path, as part of a wider 76-mile Somerset Circle initiative.

Open sections exist between Yatton and Cheddar, Westbury Sub Mendip and Easton, Wells and Dulcote Quarry as well as around Shepton Mallet, including multiple historic structures such as Windsor Hill Tunnels, Ham Wood Viaduct, Axbridge Station and Easton cutting.

The path offers access to the varying landscapes associated with the Mendips, set in rural Somerset.
