Somerset Dyslexia Association drop in session
Adults, Advice Surgeries, Children, Computing and digitalDescription
Staffed by members of Somerset Dyslexia Association, we aim to support a range of needs from parents concerned about their child’s education, students asking about Disabled Students’ Allowance and how examination concessions work, to adults who find they are struggling in the workplace because there has been an increase in the demand for them to use their literacy skills.
The room is set out with individual tables and chairs and there is a constant supply of hot refreshments. Some of the tables have activities for children and young people and programmes such as Nessy fingers, and speech recognition software can be seen and tried with help from our technical experts. We now have an iPad which is very helpful to demonstrate apps for alphabet recognition and spelling programmes.
