A by election was held on 2 May for a vacant seat in the two-seat Mendip South division on Somerset Council.
The result is as follows:
- Rob Reed, Liberal Democrat 1,313 (Elected)
- Ken Maddock, Conservative Party 1,122
- Michael Smyth, Green Party 200
- David Oakensen, Labour Party 139
The turnout was 36.07%; 14 ballot papers were rejected.
