- Somerset Sight have a shop in Taunton for resources, a mobile advisory service which provides low vision aids, advice and guidance and the organisation runs many fun events for children and young people with vision impairment

- Families First Service – Royal Society for Blind Children (RSBC) their Families First service has practitioners who look to support the wellbeing and confidence of children and young people and their families
- Parents and Carers Archives – Habilitation VI UK This provides information aimed at mobility and independent living skills
- Eye Clinic Liaison Officers (ECLO) – Ophthalmology (Eyes) – NHS
- Bristol Eye Hospital – ECLO – weblinks for Eye Clinic Liaison Officers (ECLOs) at a couple of Somerset hospitals. ECLOs can offer a range of assistance which may include guidance, emotional support, eye condition information, details of available benefits and helpful organisations, sight loss registration and employment matters
- The Amber Trust provides free to access resources and ideas to engage children and young people with vision impairment with music
- Activity Finder – British Blind Sport British Blind Sport aims to encourage children and adults with vision impairment of all ages to take part in activities and play sport at every level
- Somerset Cricket Foundation Somerset Cricket Board offer a number of inclusive cricket sessions around Somerset (including Frome, Yeovil, Chard) for different ages
- Play Therapy Pods – Newlife Charity A service that loans sensory toys for twelve weeks at a time
- Living Paintings A free to access postal library of Touch to See books for children and young people with a vision impairment

- Discuss concerns with parents and encourage them to make a doctor’s appointment for referral to audiology
- Consider if the child or young person also had their eyes checked
