Introduction

The Agreed Syllabus Conference (ASC) is a statutory body brought together to produce an agreed syllabus for Religious Education (RE).

This body must:

  • Produce and unanimously recommend to the Local Authority an agreed syllabus for RE
  • Specify what will be taught through the agreed syllabus
  • Make publicly available, all papers and minutes of each meeting for the duration of the ASC and until the next ASC is convened for reviewing the syllabus

Membership of the ASC is based on the same structure and process as SACRE and includes members from different sectors of education as well as faith and non-faith representatives.

Meeting Schedule

The following dates have been set for further ASC meetings:

  • 3 December 2024

These meetings will take place at Broughton House, Taunton and will begin at 2pm. Non-members are welcome to attend as observers. Please contact sacre@somerset.gov.uk no later than 5 working days before the meeting.

Public questions can also be submitted to the same address by 5pm the Friday before the meeting to be considered by members of the ASC.
