Introduction

This area of town has the potential to make the greatest impact on the appearance of the town centre helping to rejuvenate the lower end of town through the provision of a new public entertainment space.

The new, exciting space delivers on what people asked for in this area as a new focal point in the town centre.

Yeovil Triangle is a large pedestrianised zone with built in tiered seating on two sites.

Key changes

Six key changes to the area will be delivered on completion of the Triangle:

  • Amphitheatre seating – Amphitheatre seating for around 100, around a water feature, with raised stage area and large screen. The seating area provides the perfect opportunity for anyone to take a break from shopping and take in the entertainment provided in this area or stop for a bite to eat.
  • Focal water feature – The Triangle offers a water feature which can be turned on and off depending on the use of the area, creating a contemporary, fresh and fun feel to the town centre
  • Raised stage area – The raised stage area has been created to enable a programme of entertainment at The Triangle. This public realm space is a key area for people to gather, socialise and have fun whilst in the town. There are many shops and restaurants for people to visit and enjoy and adding entertainment will only enhance the experience.
  • Big screen – Yeovil asked and we delivered. During the initial public consultation, many people suggested having a big screen for promotion and to use for events. The screen will display key information to the public whilst also providing a space for people to congregate and watch events.
  • Natural stone paving and ornamental planting – To complement the new seating area and entertainment space, the rest of the public realm area has been enhanced, featuring natural stone paving to fit in with the new facilities. Ornamental planting has brought a fresh, green aspect to the area.
  • Art Installation – Created in partnership with local community groups during lockdown a Yeovil, an art installation featuring the seven verses of a poem has been created for visitors to the area to enjoy and reflect on.
