Levelling Up Fund

Levelling Up Fund

The Government’s Levelling up Fund is designed to invest in infrastructure that improves everyday life across the UK. The £4.8 billion fund will support town centre and high street regeneration, local transport projects, and cultural and heritage assets.

Funding bids are based upon Parliamentary Constituencies.

One is a joint bid between the previous Sedgemoor and Somerset West and Taunton District Councils for the Bridgwater and West Somerset Constituency. This focuses on investment at Bridgwater and Minehead.

The other one is a joint bid with the former Sedgemoor and Mendip District Councils for the Wells constituency and includes projects at Highbridge, Cheddar including the Gorge and surrounding area, and Shepton Mallet.

The Councils jointly submitted bids to the Levelling Up Fund in August 2022, and it is expected that a decision on whether these have been successful will be announced by Government later this autumn.
