Introduction
From April 2024, the Department for Work and Pensions will start telling most customers on Housing Benefit they must make a claim for Universal Credit.
Customers will get a migration notice with a date by which they must claim Universal Credit.
The date will be at least three months and one day from the date they get the notice. If you get a notice and you do not claim Universal Credit in time, your Housing Benefit and any other legacy benefit you get will stop.
You can find out how to make a claim for Universal Credit on the GOV.UK website.
If you cannot claim online, you can phone the Universal Credit Migration Notice helpline on 0800 169 0328.
