The National Planning Policy Framework requires Minerals Planning Authorities to plan for a steady and adequate supply of aggregates by participating in the operation of an Aggregate Working Party and taking its advice into account when preparing their Local Aggregate Assessment.
Aggregate Working Parties work regionally and membership includes representatives from the Department of Communities and Local Government, Mineral Planning Authorities, the Mineral Products Association, the British Aggregates Association, and such other representatives as appropriate.
A Local Aggregate Assessment is an annual assessment of the demand for and supply of aggregates in a mineral planning authority’s area. There is more information in Planning Practice Guidance.
The Secretariat of the SW AWP is David Jarvis Associates Ltd. For more information visit their website or email Julia Webberley at email@example.com
This page is hosted here because Somerset County Council provides the current Chair of the SW AWP. Local Aggregate Assessments from respective Mineral Planning Authorities in the South West region are not published on this page but are available directly from the respective mineral planning authorities.
