When and how much to pay

You can pay your Council Tax in 10 monthly instalments from April to January.

If you prefer, you can ask to spread your payments over 12 months from April to March.

Your payment must reach us by the first day of the month it is due, unless you pay by Direct Debit.

The amount and payment dates are shown on your bill. If you are having difficulty paying, would like to change your payment dates, or want to check how much you need to pay, please contact us.

Direct Debit payment dates

Council Tax Direct Debit payments are collected on one of the following dates each month:

  • 1st
  • 8th
  • 15th
  • 25th

How to pay your Council Tax

Pay by Direct Debit

Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your Council Tax. It is convenient, secure and covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee. You can cancel at any time. Use the link below to set up a Direct Debit.

Set up a Direct Debit

Pay online

You can pay your Council Tax bill online using a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card.

Pay by online banking, phone banking or standing order

Use your own internet banking service to set up regular payments to us. Quote the account number shown on your bill. Our bank details are:

Pay by phone

If you have a debit or credit card, use our 24/7 automated phone payment service on 01823 210923. Quote the payment reference number on the front of your bill. If it ends with an ‘x’, only use the 15 digits before the ‘x’.

Pay at a PayPoint

You can pay your Council Tax at a PayPoint outlet using the bar code on the front of your bill. Visit PayPoint Bill Payments – allpay.net to find your nearest outlet.

Pay at the Post Office

You can pay your Council Tax at any Post Office free of charge using the barcode on the front of your bill. Always keep your receipt as proof of payment.

If you pay at a Post Office or PayPoint outlet, please pay at least five days before the due date so it will get to your account on time.

Pay using the Allpay app

The allpay app, available to download on Apple and Android devices, allows you to pay your Council Tax using your smartphone. Quote the 19-digit number under the bar code on the front of your bill.
